| The Guam Department of Corrections runs a prison and a detention facility. And yes, we do regularly strip search inmates and detainees. Detainees and Inmates are strip search when; Returning from court after visitation Medical run or any other activity that would require them to leave the facility. Also, inmates on work assignment are strip searched prior to returning to the unit. In some cases, we have strip search inmates and detainees during a shakedown. | |
| I know that local jails in Minnesota will strip a prisoner when they have decided to book and keep them. They practice this regularly. I think the only other time they will do this is when someone is getting out of line inside the jail. | |

wow this is a hot!!!!! subject right now. You should go online because now with 40 30 of the california penal code. There have been lawsuits and all kinds of things so misd. non violent, not involving weapons or under the influence charges were not search- all felonies- but all are subject to search as soon as they join main population |
| Reference CA Penal code 4030. In Merced County, CA we may perform strip searches on new bookings if the charges are violent or drug related or if it's a parolee. Once in custody and sentenced, inmates may be strip searched frequently. For instance, if they are on an outside work crew or there is probable cause. In any instance, there must be prior written authorization from the on duty Sergeant. Mark Pace, Correctional Sgt. Merced County Sheriff | |
| I never knew that their had to be written consent to strip search inmates, but I am very glad to hear that. I'm also glad there are guidelines that need to be followed to make sure their is probable cause to search someone. I was surprised to see that offenders have to be sentenced first before being strip searched. I thought that once they were booked, and charged with a crime, they were strip searched. Why wait until sentencing? | |
| I think there should be regular strip searches. I am not sure if our area jail does regular strip searches. I know that when a new inmate comes in they do, but otherwise I don't believe so. | |
| I think it is a good idea to perform strip searches on inmates when they are first brought into a facility and every time they leave and enter a facility. I think this helps deter inmates from bringing in contraband and other illegal items. I don't feel strip searches are invasive because most inmates are not happy to be in jail or prision and you never know what they could be hiding. | |
| At the remand centre that I work at all inmates are strip searched whenever entering or exiting the centre, they are also strip searched after every contact visit. | |
